Join Paul G for an interview and special performance with Opie Day and Desirae Desnomie.
From drum-maker to the lead singer of the Midnite Express Singers, Robin Opichee Day-Bedeau has been singing throughout Turtle Island for more than 30 years. So, it's fair to say Opie Day is pretty much a household name in Indian Country. Born to his late father Joseph John Bedeau from Onigum by way of the Leech Lake Ojibwe Indian Reservation and his mother Charlene Anne Day from the Bois Forte Ojibwe Reservation, Opie is Anishinaabe—one of the people in Ojibwe—through and through. A member of the fish clan, his passion is singing—both powwow and round dance.
Join Paul G for an interview and special performance by Fawn Wood and Dallas Lee Waskaha.
Fawn Wood’s singing reflects her Cree and Salish tribal lineage. At an early age Fawn would sing her heart out at pow-wows alongside her mother and father. In 2006, Fawn was the first female to win the Hand Drum contest at the Gathering of Nations Pow Wow. In 2009 she opened the show at the 11th Annual Native American Music Awards (NAMMYS). Dallas Waskahat is a singer, drummer and educator who works to empower, strengthen and maintain Indigenous culture through the power of his voice, music and leadership.
PowWows.com is hosting a series of performances for Native American Heritage Month sponsored by The US Department of Health and Human Services.
Join Paul G for inspiring performances from Larry Yazzie, Tonia Jo Hall, Fawn Wood and Dallas Lee Waskahat, and Opie Day and Desirae Desnomie.

Join Paul G for a round table discussion with the people in the documentary Gather.
The stunning documentary, Gather, follows four individuals as they share their experiences as natives and their plan to keep their culture alive while feeding and nourishing their communities. They are all in the midst of a cultural movement in hopes of reconnecting their Native communities to the somewhat lost heritage and ancient ways concerning food production and consumption. As Native identities struggle to remain in a land of continued oppression and invisibility, these four prove that there are still communities out there that are unshakeable and still stand in the wake of decades of historical suffering.
